A memorial to Ancient Sites which ceased to operate on 31 March 2001 and then disappeared altogether from the Web about September 2001

A tribute to a great site on the Web

Visit the House of  Frontinus Sempronius

And see the original entrance shortly after arrival

Ancient Sites was a unique presence on the Web.  It provided a real community based on historical cities.  These formed the basis of a community where each individual could build their own home, personalised as they chose.  There were multiple bulletin boards covering every aspect of the history of each of the cities and boards for those who wanted to role play in a historical context.

The basis of the site was originally focussed on an interactive game SPQR.  Its influence underpins much of the Rome element of the site and one of the images can be found on the Rome page to be found on this site.

This site contains some images saved from Ancient Sites before it disappeared and is designed to give some idea of what it was like for those who never visited.  For those who were citizens, it may revive pleasant memories.

The links on either side of this column will take you to the pages which I have saved.  The links at the top and bottom are as they were when Ancient Sites was  up and running.

The blazing brazier symbol of Ancient Sites can be clicked on form any page to take you back here.

Farewell citizens of Ancient Sites.  It was a great experience.
