(Note: The ability to create new group boards is a subscription privilege.)
Before starting a new group, it's a good idea to field for interest. Each world has threads where you
can post your ideas and proposals for new groups, get citizen feedback, and perhaps attract
potential members:
Now look for the "Create a New Group" link in the righthand column of the page, under the
"Academic Centers" and "Historical R&R" tabs. Click on it to bring up the edit group page.
You'll be asked to choose a Group Category (General, Historical, Social, Role Play or Interactive
Story) and whether you want the group to be Closed or Open. In a "closed" group, when new
members join, they become only "Readers" of the group (group member level 1) with no power to
post. In an "open" group, new members need only click "Join" to be able to post.
You'll also need to provide a group Title, Topic (Architecture, Everyday Life, Art, etc.), Geographic
Region, and the time period that the group deals with. You can edit all these at a later time if you
wish. When you're done, click "Submit" to create your group board.
Please note that to create a group you need to pay a virtual, non-refundable fee of 1,500 stcs.
